Year 6 (Key Stage 2)

Year 6 is an exciting and significant time when pupils take on new responsibilities and prepare for the next stage of their educational journey. It is a year of challenge, discovery and growing independence as they get ready to take the next big step into secondary school.

At the heart of our curriculum is the development of the whole child. Lessons are carefully planned and sequenced to nurture curiosity, promote active learning and build resilience. We set high expectations and encourage a genuine love of learning, empowering each pupil to take ownership of their progress. Our teaching aims to deepen understanding, strengthen subject knowledge and inspire critical thinking across all areas of the curriculum.

Throughout the year, pupils are given rich and memorable opportunities to grow in confidence and responsibility — from leading roles in school life to creative projects, trips and celebrations. By the end of Year 6, they leave us as motivated, mature and self-assured learners, ready to thrive in secondary school and beyond.
